Blatant dive - typical Italy. The Aussies played fair and hard all tournament, and got shafted by the ref's the whole way through. 32 frees to Brazil to Aussies 9. Two penalties turned down vs croatia, a dodgy red, and a goal disallowed, supposedly after the whistle even though he shot it first. And then the dive by Grosso. Italians everywhere should be proud. Your country may win, but in your heart you will know you didn't deserve it. So much for Fifa Fair play, and stamping down on cheats. Great example FIFA. The game is a joke now.
To be fair though, Australia should have taken their chances which they didn't, and Neil, as a European professional should have known better than to go in so hard in the box, knowing the Italians will do anything desperately to win.
Australia can hold their heads high, they were the most impressive team without a ref to help them.

It wasn't fair to the game of football itself, it was definetly not a penalty, and if Australia had been awarded the penalty and had won. Italy would be crying for another 4 years, I can't wait to get rid of those whining babies, but then again they might win the World Cup because we all know how good Italy are at fixing games.

well italia deserve the penalty coz he stopped grosso and he lay down he thought he s taking a sunbath mr aussie ! italia is the best and they will win the world cup ! its tactics the match between italia and australia ! from when australia knows how to play soccer ! watch itala and learn ! the r the masters of football ! forza italia la squadra azzurra

Well amazing is a word for it I guess. It's amazing an Italian got a red card for that infraction and amazing they then got a penalty kick for that Aussie tackle.

I just love this..they say they gave Italy the game...but wait..I really could of swore the ref game Australia the game when he gave Materazzi a red card when it certainly was a yellow...and Italy played with 10 men for 45 mins...but no thats not giving Australia the game is it?...and now you guys are mad just because you guys couldn't score a goal for 45 MINUTES with Italy play with 10 MEN....give me a break.

No it wasn't a fair call , the italian player took a dive & the referee gave them the game ,, as usual most of the referees have not called a fair & honest game ,,,,,,

It was just a robbery...I don't like to use stereotypes but it was typical of the Italian way of playing...Once again, we can just hope that the FIFA will soon agree to use cameras to help the referees

nope...so not fair. it wasn't that amazing of a match but australia definitely would have deserved to win; they were better than italy.
