a really weird children's tv programme on channel 4 at about 6 o'clock in the late 80's... it was adults dressed up as some kind of bear like creatures with stupid voices and they were always in the garden. it was RUBBISH but i can't find a reference to it anywhere or have met anyone else who rememebers it, it's driving me mad!!

no! it wasn't the teletubbies! another thing i remember about it is that it always seemed to be night time... i promise i haven't made it up in my own brain!

could it be animal krackers? that was around at roughly the time ur thinking of, and they were dressed up idiots...that sang!?
or Banana splits, or Zoobilee Zoo as they had people dressed as a bear, a beaver, a fox....etc, or do you mean the one with the two families of (people dressed up as) bears that lived next door to each other....if thats the one you mean...gimme time, i'll have to try and remember what it was called...

Racking my brains, but no, sorry, no idea. Unless you're thinking earlier, like late seventies, then maybe The Banana Splits, but they were wacky and funny.
Or the teletubbies, of course, and they sometimes went inside, to sleep, eat pink custard and play with noo-noo. I think its still on, weeday mornings for like, really little kids. Its aimed at babies from 9-18 months and stimulates learning by repetition, unbelievable what my daughter learnt from watching such an unmitigated pile of crap.
