It's really quite simple, my dear lady. Insects were laying Eggs incredibly early in Life's storied history, and although different from our beloved morning dish they nevertheless had all the qualities of an Egg. The homely Hen didn't scratch upon our Green Earth until a far sight more recently. The Fossil Record shows this, and what Man can doubt the inevitable march of Science? It follows that the Egg came first and the Chicken later. I do sincerely hope that this humble Reply satisfies your Query!

According to religious belief....chicken.....but in my opinion the egg came first. Scientifically, a chicken is probably the descended of a hybrid (two other animals) which created a new species hence the chicken. And to go back even further.....bacteria is the origin of life on earth hence created several small creatures then created small animals and so forth. Small animals created a new species......the chicken!!!!! This is fun!
