I dont think limewire itself has a virus, it may be the place that you downloaded it from.
I'm not sure if you mean when you download programs for or FROM limewire.
I download many diffrent programs both for and from limewire and I've never gotten a virus alert.
Maybe you should scan your downloads before commensing?

It's not limewire that has the virus, it the program that you downloaded.
You can't assume that everything you download off the Internet is virus-free. You have to scan for viruses and malware. That's a no-brainer.

whenever you download anything you need to think about cost. If you did not pay for the download, there is most likely a hidden cost. some companies allow downloads with limited features or limited time functionality. they offer these as samples of their products. other companies offer a free download as bait. included in such downloads will be spyware, nagware, trojans,or viruses. before you download anything, instead of thinking about what you are getting from them, ask yourself:what do they want from you. the EULA(EndUserLicenseAgreement)has become somewhat of a legal document. any ligitemate software company will have you accept one as a term for the download. read it carefully. if in the EULA, they say to use the software you must use the spyware, that is the bottom line. Many companies will include a description of marketing/surveying functions within the download.

Not always, but there's usually a high risk factor involved.
Because Limewire does not monitor its content, and its users can post, or share anything they choose, you never know what you will get.
