actually Milwaukee was bought out by TTI who owns Rigid and Ryobi and moved operations overseas to Asia. Oh and just a word of advice, when you look at a life time warranty such as craftsman or rigid, it means the lifetime of the tool, which on avg is given a life of 2 years

Dewalt is good. I own some dewalt tools. However I find Mikita makes the best(Japanese Quality). I used them side by side on a job for many years and dewalt makes stronger cordless drills but makita makes more reliable ones(no breakage). If you get a chance go to Lowe's or Home Despot and ask to see the makita special order book(it does exist there I've worked for both or look online). Makita makes every type of rechargeable device you can imagine. From rechargeable chainsaws(not circular but they do make those), weedwackers, and my special favorite the 1/2" drive rechargeable impact gun(the dewalt version is good but too powerful for precise work). I also think makita is more ergonomically balanced and precise and on long jobs you can really tell the difference. Other than these two brands I find others are second rate. So if you're a barbarian and you want power you want dewalt if you're a sophisticated craftsman you want makita. Simple enough I like them both.

Milwaukee tools. They are built in America by an American company, and they are the toughest tools out there. I have a mix of Dewalt, Milwaukee, and Porter Cable tools, and I will say that they all have their advantages. I like Dewalt's cordless drill-it seems more poserful, but Milwaukee's tools are excellent expecially the corded Sawzall - nothing cuts like this thing, and their corded drills. Porter Cable makes the best routers out there in my opinion - they are powerful, perfectly sized, and easy to change out bits.

There are so many good brand names and of course you will get many different opinions. If you are not sure on what to purchase, just go to consumer reports in the web and you can get an honest, unbiased, researched opinion on most products out today.
