But joke-telling is different to being funny and expressing humour:

Joke telling is an act or display. Performing is in general, a gender-specific trait which is associated with males. Boys are often encouraged more in this way and society gives men preferential treatment when it comes to being listened to. Ego comes into the equation too - getting a laugh shows your popularity supposedly and gives you status (in general more important to males) within a group with which you identify.
However, that having been said, if confidence is supposed to be necessary for pulling off joke-telling, some of the funniest people I know (male and female) are at their best in spontaneous moments, when there is less pressure and its more relaxed.
I don't agree that only men can tell jokes, but I think that male comedians get a better billing as society still seems to think that women don't have much to talk about: some of the best comedy comes from making observation about everyday scenarios.

I think you are not mixing with the right people. When jokes are being bandied about, I can assure you that a girl I know can reduce everyone to the giggles. It really depends on the personality of who is telling the joke. Men often resort to bad language in order to try and make a joke funny. It's not necessary.

That's not a true, proven fact !

It depends on the person's character and how they tell the joke. If an underconfident GUY was telling a joke and he didn't accent on the right words or on the right silence it would be horrible.

It seriously matters on a lot of things .

Character, accentation, silence, confidence

Generally speaking women make very poor comediens. They seem to lack a sense of humour, at least it's very different to the male sense of humour. They seem to prefer laughing at predicaments that men sometimes get themselves into. Come to think of it they rarely tell jokes. They also sometimes don't get jokes or don't find them funny especially if they are rude.

I don't necessarily agree. Some people just suck at delivering a joke and some people are just naturally funny....like me....a female.

It's not always. It depends on the people, nature of the joke and tone.

because chicks cry in public and have a firmer grip on reality so they don't get into the joke. . .they have a lack of committment. . .
