I can't believe you even have to ask this question, because the obvious answer is YES.

Good reasons why:
-They are people too, who have the same right as we do to marry whoever they choose
-In the constitution it clearly states "all men are created equal."
-There is suppossed to be a seperation of state and church here, and if gay marriage is kept illegal, that boundary is clearly being crossed in favor of religion
-Gays and lesbians should have the same rights that marriage provides for everyone else, such as insurance plans, visitation rights, etc.
-Not everybody is this country is christian, so why should everybody be forced to follow its principles?
-Love makes a marriage, not oppossite genders. You can't possibly say that gay marriage would undermine the "traditional family" because it's already being ruined by the 50% divorce rate in this country.
-Someday we will look back on all this stupidity with the same disbelief we have today that blacks, not too long ago, did not have equal rights. Isn't this the same thing? Do we enjoy being a bunch of biggots?

There, are those good enough reasons for you...I should think so.

Sure if we tax everyone in the U.S. at the single rate and turn marriage back into a religious ceremony with no legal rights. Otherwise there will be a lot more divorces choking the court system and social security will go bankrupt even faster. I don't think people are considering the financial aspects of this. Also there are a lot of single men that would marry even though they are not gay to get all the monetary benefits of being married. I doubt anyone would want to be single and miss out on all those goverment goodies.

How can you ask SHOULD THEY HAVE THE RIGHT?! THEY HAVE THE RIGHT!!!! All human beings have the right to marry the person of their choice so long as that person has the mental capacity to enter into marriage is an adult. The larger question SHOULD be who the **** gave the government the idea that they could stop people from getting married? What is the next thing we will allow them to ban? At one time in this very country if two people wanted to marry each other and they were not the same race they couldn't, and women couldn't wear pants, or vote, and african-americans had no rights. Are we reverting to those times? What is the next thing to ban? Perhaps the ban-wagon will pull up to the steps of our schools and ask if girls should have the right to an education?! This is supposed to be America where all citizens are equal with equal rights that NO ONE can take away from the citizens of America, and it is time that the rest of the nation and those in power realize that our constitution states that ALL MEN ARE CREATED EQUAL WITH INALIENABLE RIGHTS TO LIFE, LIBERTY, AND THE PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS!!

First, I want to state that I am not gay nor is my wife a lesbian. We have been married 46 years.
I see no reason to deny gays and lesbians the right to get married and have all of the advantages that married couples have. Just because a couple are the same sex does not mean that they cannot love each other. They can have a family and give them as much love and understanding that we have given to our children. They can have careers and contribute to society. There is absolutely no reason in the world to deny them unless of course you are a prejudiced religious redneck.

No, and here's 12 reasons why:

1. Homosexuality is not natural, much like eyeglasses, polyester, and birth control.

2. Heterosexual marriages are valid because they produce children. Infertile couples and old people can't legally get married because the world needs more children.

3. Obviously, gay parents will raise gay children, since straight parents only raise straight children.

4. Straight marriage will be less meaningful if Gay marriage is allowed, since Britney Spears' 55-hour just-for-fun marriage was meaningful.

5. Heterosexual marriage has been around a long time and hasn't changed at all; women are property, blacks can't marry whites, and divorce is illegal.

6. Gay marriage should be decided by people, not the courts, because the majority-elected legislatures, not courts, have historically protected the rights of the minorities.

7. Gay marriage is not supported by religion. In a theocracy like ours, the values of one religion are imposed on the entire country. That's why we have only one religion in America.

8. Gay marriage will encourage people to be gay, in the same way that hanging around tall people will make you tall.

9. Legalizing gay marriage will open the door to all kinds of crazy behavior. People may even wish to marry their pets because a dog has legal standing and can sign a marriage contract.

10. Children can never succeed without a male and a female role model at home. That's why single parents are forbidden to raise children.

11. Gay marriage will change the foundation of society. Heterosexual marriage has been around for a long time, and we could never adapt to new social norms because we haven't adapted to things like cars or a longer lifespan.

12. Civil unions, providing most of the same benefits as marriage with a different name are better, because a "separate but equal" institution is always constitutional. Separate schools for African-Americans worked just as well as separate marriages for gays and lesbians will.

Honestly, if they took the documentation of legal 'marriage', crossed out where it said 'marriage', and put 'union', no one would have a problem with it. The only reason anyone does now, unless you're a complete idiot, a biggot, or need to come out of the closet themselves, is because they consider marriage to be a holy sanction, and since homosexuality is specifically banned in most religions, people will keep voting against it.

So, should they be married? No.

Should they recieve the same rights, tax and legality wise? YES!

Being married is basically a promise made to God.

Gay people can promise themselves to each other, if they so choose. To hell with what the hypocritical church has to say about it.

Too bad they won't be considered "married" in the eyes of the law, but who cares.

I'm not gay myself and I honestly don't understand it. But I don't judge people for any reason, especially sexual preference.

I think we all have the right to be happy ... sometimes you just have to fight for that when you live in a tyrant ruled society like the U.S.A !

The "right" to get married only matters if it is important to you to have an officially government-recognized union, and that is only important to people because government is in the business of rewarding marriage with special privileges and incentives.

In a fairer world, government wouldn't play favorites, and whether you are married to a man, a woman, or a lamppost would be between you, the other person (or object), and your clergy, if any.

yes,

I never actually understood the intervention of society in marriage.

Marriage is an agreement between consenting adults. Why should it be regulated so much?

Why do we limit marriage to two people? Why can't 2 women marry 2 man and have a great and stable household.

yes, of course. Not all people are religious. If they want to get married they should be able to. There's a difference between government and religion. This is not a christian nation. So I think that they should be able to. It's a free country, let them marry if they want to. I don't see what all the fuss is about. Just let them marry and get it over with.
