recently a friend told that a technician told him that keeping your laptop connected to the wall all day should ruin the batteries, that once the battery is charged i should unplug it, is that true?

That is exactly what happened to mine. It was supposed to be a "memory - free" battery, but.....
Once it's fully charged, unplug it and let it drain completely before you charge it again. I left mine plugged in and eventually it wouldn't hold a charge at all, and it was only two years old.

That use to be the case with older rechargeable batteries.

Lithium Ion batteries do not have that problem. I would not unplug your computer after the battery is charged fully. You run a great risk of losing your work because the battery-life time is not accurate.

As the battery has a current going though it whenever the laptop is plugged in, it can decrease the battery's lifetime. You can remove the battery while the computer is on.

It is also recommended that every couple of weeks you run the computer on the battery until it is completely drained, and then let it recharge.
