Your best bet on something like this is to contact other parents of autistic children in your area and get their opinions of the local programs and schools based on personal experience. Yahoo! Answers is global, and very few people will directly have experience with Dayton autism programs.

Try contacting the local/regional autism (aspergers...but will also have connections to other forms of autism) parent support group:

I would contact the Social Services Department in Dayton,Ohio & they should be able to recommend a school or facility. Or, you could try just putting in your "search": School or Facility for Autistic Children in Dayton, Ohio. Good luck to you. I wish you the best.

you might try contacting Autism speaks (www.autismspeaks.org) or another organization in yoru area. If you do a web search you will likely be surprised at the amount of information there is out there.

Also, don't be afraid of the public school system. They have federal and state mandates to provide your child with a Free and Appropriate Public Education (FAPE). Also, most public schools will even have a preschool aged program for children with autism.

Most importantly, learn your rights as a parent adn the rights of your child. If you do a search for IDEA (Individuals with Disabilities Act) you can find some information on it. If your know your rights you can push for better care citing the laws.

I know of a good school down here in San Antonio. Maybe you could contact them & see if they can help you. It's called the Winston School of San Antonio.

Talk to your school district first and see what they have to offer. At our district kids start out with others learning social skills and basic managment skills then they are mainstreamed into general ed.
