He was indeed great. in my opinion too. How he performed, entertained the public, the music he made. Sometimes simple and striking, often enormously complex. On stage almost arrogant and charming, offstage a bit of a shy man, who was at his best in his own house.
If you want to know more on him read one of the following books:
- Book by Peter Freestone (his personal assistant) http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0711986746/sr=8-1/qid=1152047340/ref=sr_1_1/002-2129181-1723266?ie=UTF8
- Book by Jim Hutton (his "husband") http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0747519226/sr=8-5/qid=1152047527/ref=pd_bbs_5/002-2129181-1723266?ie=UTF8

You mean, from a philosophical point of view? I know this might not be popular, but I'm actually part of the rare few people who aren't Queen fans, or fans of Eddie Mercury. I don't know... I just don't get the mixture of opera-type choruses with rock & roll. It just doesn't work for me. His songs have moved many people of many generations, and even my uncle is crazy about his stuff, but for some reason they don't strike a chord with me even at all. I don't know why. Whenever "Bohemian Rhapsody" comes on the radio I can't turn the dial fast enough...
