Check out www.kayak.com. It's a great website that allows you to compare several different airlines and discount webpages, and you can check according to the dates you want to travel, and other factors such as time of arrival, or how many transfers.

If you are a student, www.statravel.com or one of their travel agents is a great help. I went through one of the travel agents that exist nationwide near my campus when I traveled to South Africa. My flight wasn't too expensive, and I had a week and a half stopover in London. Make sure you book early though, that's the cheapest way to do it. And if you can, Virgin airlines is one of the nicest airlines around, and they have great service. They fly to Johannesburg, though I'm not sure if they fly from Boston. But maybe you can transfer to New York, and then fly Virgin to London and SA. It's worth it if it works out! Good luck!
