I know that a typical debit card PIN is designed with 4 digit codes for protective identification. I'm not sure if it's possible to use other combination. Does any of you use a PIN with letters and other special characters?

Yes, the PIN pads are set up like telephones with the letters on the keys. However, it will have to be a 4 letter word, LOL. Also, if you travel overseas, don't let the first number of your PIN be a zero. Some ATMs overseas do not recognize a zero as a numerical place holder. I do not believe there are any special characters though.

yes you can use letters because the numbers for pins are usually the same as the numbers on a telephone with the letters for a phone above the numbers.

Well, yes and no - by definition the PIN is a number (Personal Identifcation NUMBER). That said, the only way my husband can remember his PIN is by the word it spells on a telephone keypad. No, you can't use the * and # keys.
