Well much of my childhood is a blank (I'm a survivor of child abuse and so have blocked out a lot of memories .. unfortunately along with the bad memories it seems the good memories got locked up too). I envy you all your childhood memories .. wish I could answer.

But I do recall when I was about 13 or 14 my hero was Oscar Wilde (weird I know!) and like the Boy George fan was somewhat oblivious to his preferences. Saw him on some BBC tv serial about Lily Langtry .. still remember the actor's name it was Peter Egan .. for some reason I was totally fascinated with him, and would escape into my mind into this dream world for HOURS where I would visit him and sit and have cucumber sandwiches and tea with him and his literary friends!!

I guess it was a safer world than the real one :(

Nowadays I just have a sentimental attachment to him because he was my first hero .. and I still have a postcard of an old black and white photo of him and his boyfriend Bosie, framed and put up with my family photos!! People ask me, who's THAT? And I say oh, they're childhood friends ..
