No, welsh and English are not the same. They are 2 of the 4 seperate countries that make up the UK (the other 2 are Scotland and Northern Ireland). It is extremely offensive to confuse this.

Also, Tom Jones is Welsh and he is 100% straight - he's a ladies man - women fling their pants at him when he's on stage for gods sake!

it's like the difference between parisians and french people in southern france. each have their own culture but are fundementally the same.

i havent heard anyone from orkney so cant say if it sounds welsh to me or not. but gaelic may have the same foundation for the language, not sure.

tom jones is definately not gay, not even bio. i would call him a wonaniser and stay a million miles away from him, but he has a great pair of lungs ha

I am Irish, but I think anybody Welsh would be offended to be thought of as English (although I am not too bothered if people call me English as I grew up in Enland). Tom Jones is definitely not a gay American. He is a hot blooded proud, successful Welshman, who is also pretty damn talented and successful.

Welsh and English aren't the same and if you were to confuse a Welsh with an English he'd take serious offense. And who's Tom Jones?

The differences are many. For example theFrench conquered England (1066) leading to 200 years where England was Bi-lingual (hence the thousands of French words in the English language). The Welsh however are pure Celts with a language as old as any surviving in Europe. They are rightly proud of their heritage and you will find when travelling are far more welcome on the continent than their football thug neighbours from hell. (He he!!)

Welsh come from Wales and English come from England and Tom Jones is a Welshman, I don't think he's gay, but I could be wrong.
