actually it is not as loud as you may think..as you well know their back side is quite large, so this makes for just a low sounding noise, nothing to frighten the other cows...see the cows wee made this way because if a cow gets scared, they stop giving milk..so their back sides have a large opening so the sound coming out is semi quiet....this way the other cows producing milk continue without any interruptions

I took my decibel meter (there really is such a thing) and became a farmer for a day (definition of farmer: some out standing in his field.) and measured cows' asses and the average was about 92 dB.
