if your nose is oily - like when it's the middle of the day - does putting on make-up on your nose make it less oily or does it just accentuate your nose? is a blotting tissue better? what's a good face powder compact - that looks natural?

what i do is i blot my nose with a kleenex, n thats it, it dosnt take a way the make up you already have on... if you dont blot it you'll just have a cakey look on your face and look rediculous and it will just get oily again.

I use the blotting tissues and aveda toning mist to get rid of the excess oil. I find that if i keep powdering on top of sweat, then i get whiteheads on my nose. It does make it look less oily, but the after effects are not worth it in my case. I good natural powder compact is MAC blot powder. Its just what it says, a very sheer powder for blotting oil that doesnt add color like pressed powder does. When I do use it, I apply it with a retractable powder brush that I was daily so the compact doesnt get that oily film on it. Also, the brush applys less product more evenly so you dont need as much and it looks more natural.

I would recommend using blotting tissue to remove oil first. Otherwise, you'll just layer powder on top of oil and it may look cakey by the end of the day. If necessary, you can touch up with powder after blotting. MAC Blot is a good one, surprisingly Cover Girl Outlast isn't bad either.

It's better to use a blotting tissue because it's removing the oil from your skin. When you use powder it just covers it up. I like Mary Kay's Beauty Blotters ($5). I tried the ones by Clean & Clear before, but they didn't pull up as much oil and I had to use at least two of them. Mary Kay has a good powder foundation as well, in the Dual Coverage ($14). Yes, the powder helps absorb the oil & should be re-applied throughout the day as needed. Go with a good LOOSE powder. Compacts tend to trap oil & dirt when you keep applying it then rubbing it back into the compact, YUK! And it gets so hard you can no longer get it out from being matted down with yuk.

AVON has some wonderful loose powder products, if you would like to check them out:

well my nose is like the only part of my face that ever gets oil so i usually first use oil blotting sheets, then apply oil free powder on my nose.

blotting is better. When you add another layer of cosmetic to your skin, it tends to pour more oil out.
