Not quite.

The scientific method provides a process by which hypotheses can be tested. Since the result at the end of an experiment can only support or refute the hypothesis upon which the experiment was based, I don't think you could see it as a solution to a problem, because the focus of the experiment is only on one hypothesis, not the entire problem. Actually, the only way to find a solution through the scientific method is to disprove all possible other explanations.
