i don't have a pet, so they either came from outside (i noticed them when i was sitting on some wooden steps leading down to my house, but they could have been on me from inside) or from a friend who took in a stray dog.

it's only been a day, but how do i stop them before they get really bad?

well i would recommend a standard sonic flea and tick repeller, that way you don't need to use bug bombs and such, you can most likely get them at a pet store and there very effective if you use them with a can of raid flea and tick spray.

try there links and i hope they help.

if you want to waste money then buy "bombs" and put one every 3 days while nobody at home for at least 3 hours. If you want to do better call any pest control company, they will charge you a little bit but they warranty the job
