Yeah.
He has been clearly the class of the 2001 draft. His defense is much better than anyone ever expected and he has shown he has great speed for a catcher stealing 7 bases in 8 attempts. How can a guy who is hitting over .370 at the most challenging defensive position not start the all-star game??? Here is a guy who hits .380 against righties, .370 against lefties on base % of .444, and an OPS close to 1.000! How does that not qualify?? But there are a lot of bandwagon boston fans who will vote in Varitek who is a very good catcher, just not better than Mauer this year...

There is no doubt about it. He is having one of the best years for a catcher in recent memory.
Jason V. is bad... just bad this year and he will likely start.
