The new owners wanted to change the name, and the logo, because they wanted to break ties with the old owner, Disney.
The owners polled various season seat holder (including me) if we wanted a name change or keep the names Ducks (and drop the Mighty). We all agreed to keep our name Ducks and drop the Mighty part.
The colors were changed to reflect a bolder team. The gold and black highlighted with orange (to reflect Orange County) looks very nice.
the new website is anaheimducks.com.

The Mighty Ducks of Anaheim are switching to Anaheim Ducks to cut the association with Disney but I really don't see how just dropping "Mighty" and flipping the name back around to city first, nickname next works doing that all that much. The bigger question is why not bag the Ducks name period and get a decent team nickname?
Come on, a duck as a team logo? Sure there is the U. or Oregon Ducks but that's just as dopey. Why not something that reflects Anaheim itself? Oranges (old WTT team hasd that name) has to be better than Ducks (not by much. mind you)...Amigos (old ABA team had that name and may tap into a Hispanic fan base) or Conservative White Folks (ya know, their fan base in the O.C.)?

The amazing ducks of Anaheim were owned through Disney. at the same time as Disney offered the franchise to Henry and Susan Samueli, they replaced the crew's call to the Anaheim ducks. The ducks are a diverse company, franchise, and crew all inclusive of out relation to the amazing ducks of Anaheim. besides the undeniable fact that, using settlement, the crew had to proceed to be in Anaheim.

Anaheim Ducks changed their name from Mighty Ducks of Anaheim to ditch any possible last connections with Disney. After being sold to private owners last year (or was it the year before?), the owners wanted to make the cut loud and clear. Disney no more. So now its just Anaheim Ducks.

The reason is that it was way to long and the owner thought it would best to shorten it to Anahem Ducks.

1. Mighty Ducks is a goofy name...
2. That name promotes Disney products...
3. New owners in Anaheim who want to make a change and sell jerseys and other gear...
the main reason is money!

Because the movie they were named after became irrelevant over a decade ago.

It's as simple as Disney does not own the team anymore.
