I'll dare to buck the trend.

No I don't agree with your statement.

Never be bullied into silence -- Speaking when someone has a different opinion strong enough to bully you means you should shut up. He's not going to change your mind; you're not going to change his. Besides, isn't it said better to remain silent than to prove that you are a fool?

Never allow yourself to be a victim -- Good sentiment. But if you are a victim, this statement makes it sound like it was your fault. I don't want to be a victim but if I am, then I'm not going to go through life thinking I allowed it to happen through some fault of my own. Sometimes sh*t happens.

Accept no one's definition of your life -- What we think we are saying and what we are actually saying can be two different things. We all know our own definition of our lives. Are we conveying that to others? Only by hearing (not necessarily accepting) others' definitions do we know if we are succeeding.

Define yourself -- While it is good to do your own thing, why re-invent the wheel? Define yourself by looking at the definitions of others and realising where you are and where you want to be.

No, I do not agree. The meaning of bully and victim are that you do not have a choice in the matter. If someone is 6'2 and 300 pounds, and you are a tiny guy, you can't just "NOT" be a victim. If you are being overpowered and hurt, you are a victim. The point is that you do not have a choice. As for "define yourself"....you cannot define yourself. You are defined as other people see you, and you can't help that. If someone sees you and thinks "nerd" then that is their definition...by changing yourself or "defining yourself" you are just changing for them...therefore you are accepting their definition. Does that make sense?

I agree up until the last part I think a persons definition of them self is always made up of what others think or others relationship to you be it positive or negative the labels you assign are based on others and the connotations associated with stereotypes:
mother, father, brother, sister, carer, socialite, banker, blond, brunette, jeans, skirts, kilts, academic, democrat, boho, corporate
I do not think you need to define yourself

(and yeah people do love to comment on the typos!)

Never be bullied into silence....

Now, dont you think there are times, when silence would be the better part of valor, when appropriate, and it would take a "good man" to know when its better to be silence, then cause a ruckus? It takes temperment, to know the difference...

Never allow yourself to be a victim....

Didnt JESUS say:
Lu 6:29 And unto him that smiteth thee on the one cheek offer also the other; and him that taketh away thy cloke forbid not to take thy coat also.

I think JESUS was a better judge than we ever were, on "victim"... HE, who sacraficed HIMSELF for all our sins...

You must have your own life. You are the one to live your life. It sounds like you are having conflict in your life and that you need some help.

Why not go to Church and see if they can help you with a new direction... Give you hope, and show you the "way" for a better future???

I wish you well..

Jesse

This is a very great statement if you are in a situation where you can live by it but remember sometimes things happen that are out of a person's control or people must do things to get by in life so be sure not to judge others if they are not able to live by it.

I would agree with this statement but it depends how far you would have to go. I would not hurt or take the life of another human being for a belief no matter how I felt.
