the two males will only fight IF there is/are females around. try getting 2 brothers or 2 sisters or best friends to avoid territorial fights.

If 2 males are together they shouldnt fight unless there is a female nearby. I had a coulpe guinea pigs and worked in a feed/petstore and I think the best pairing is two females. Males seem to urinate a lot more and sometimes can get smelly. They are really cool pets! If you get a male and female pair its likely that you will end up with a female that is constantly pregnant and after each litter (usually one or two babies) the mothers chance of dieing goes up something like 20%. There is a website I saw a long time ago... umm.. called cavyspirtit I think. It should answer all of your questions. I think you can even adopt piggies from thier. Good luck.

Gunia pigs are herd animals, and can get bored and lonely by themselves. If you can devote at least 2 hours to playtime with your pet each day, you could maybe have a happy single pet. If you only get one, don't put it in your bedroom, keep it out in your main living area. It will feel more like family that way, and be happier. Two females will keep each other company and need less play time with you, and be happier pets if you are unable to spend a large amount of time together. Two male brothers, raised together and never apart for more than a few minutes will live together happily just like two females. Two strange males will fight and hurt each other. Whatever you do, give them a bigger cage than you think they will need, and they will be happier and healthier. Go to this website on how to make a big cage for less $ than the petstore cages!

From my experience with them, two females would probably be best. We had two males and they fought like crazy. We then traded a male for a female and within a month or two we had 4 babies. we gave all but one away and he seemed lonely---he would make this funny whistling sound all night that he did not do when others were with him. Hopefully this helps.

you can get 2 females...it'll be fine. why don't you want females? don't get 1 female and 1 male if you don't want to deal with the whole mating thing...lol! i think 2 males would be fine, too!

If you don't want a pair, just get a male. If you play with him enough, he won't get lonely. Mine lived by himself and was never starved for company.

Two males might fight. I wouldn't risk it.

whatever you choose to do, look under www.petfinder.com you should really adopt animals instead of buying from pet shops......there are tons that need homes! some of them are older, so they get along with lots of others, or you can get one that likes to be alone.......whatever, it all depends on you and the pig. :D
