Recently our AC unit hasn't been working well or something, no matter how low we set the temperature to be, the temperature of the air coming out is still warm.

Any tips on how to fix this problem?

The air in the ac is supposed to be coming out warm therefore you know it is working...you may need some more freon or maybe your apt or house has high ceilings, or the compressor may be going out soon. Listen for a sound that makes it seem that a lawnmower is running when it should not

sounds like u set the temperaturne to low if so you froze over the compressor if your unit is somewhere where it is accessible check it out first tur off you whole system go to the unit look inside it through the top if you see ice or frost on the compressor you have frozen over the unit second there are two things you can do one set the thermostat to Fan only wait about half an hour check the unit if it has defrosted turn the unit back on set the t-stat low lower than 65 degrees or you can leave the whole system off for an hour .Now if it is not frozen over u need to add freon GOOD LUCK

Call a service tech you TRUST!!! You may have a compressor that has gone bad and allowed all the freon to leak out. Or you may have a pinhole leak in the coil inside or outside. If your A/C is over 10 years old REPLACE IT. The money you save every month will help pay for your new system.

Check on the following--and do it quickly--running a unit too hard for too long can perminently damage the system and cost heavy duty dollars to repair-------------first --how long since you changed or even checked the filter--a dirty and or clogged filter can be the source of alot of a/c problems-----next--how long since the unit has been serviced and the freon levels filled ?? low gas in the unit will be the death nell to its performance---you will have to have someone that knows what they're doing here and someone that has the equipment to do the job

If it is a window unit, the compressor is bad and needs to be replaced--a new one would cost less. If it is a central unit, it probably just needs to be serviced by a professional--for instance, it needs a charge of Freon.

You need to get the freon refilled. It is ILLEGAL and UNSAFE for you to do it yourself. Look in the Yellow Pages under Air Conditioning and someone will be able to assist you with having it filled. Hope that helps! :)

Time to call a 'tech' and have it checked out...it may need more freon

you need to change the air conditioner's air filter....sometimes dust, hair and dirt might be clogging it so the cold air is trapped. maybe your unit is too old and is no longer fuctioning. ask a repairman to come take a look.
