Do red and blue represent something in particular? If so what do the colors stand for?

Well, each country would have their own meaning of what the colors represent. But, it is probably safe to say that red is for the blood of their soldiers or people, and blue is for the ocean that surrounds it, or the free sky above them.

Another reason, is that nations that are closely aligned with each other might have similiar flags - the soviet union flag used to look almost exactly like China's flag, for example - two countries tied closely together. Australia's Flag has the Union Jack in the corner of theirs - which is Great Britain's Flag. The U.S. flag which at one time used to be British colonies, has the same colors.

Nice question too, by the way.

I do not have a clue, probably a coinky dink or is it because they are primary colors. Good question... They do represent something specific for each country.
