Because they have the backing to run their campaigns and get their names out there, so people recognize them when they go to the poles.

Poor corrupt people do the dirty work a lot cheaper behind the seans,,,??>>..And the 'poor' people don't have time to run for election since there is a price tag there too...( just like ROME at it's end where the 'throne' was bought by the higgest bidder .p.s which is what w'we' are working towards )....DON'TBELIEVE THE MEDIA as gospel but just a view of a small part of the wholes perception by those writting those articals....a yes or no vote must have a complete knowledge of what is being voted for/against by the voter and this is not so in 99 % of those voting...so soon LESS htan 45 % will vote...and right now those who don't vote are smarter than those who do....much smater...after all who are these that 'run' the show anyways...and do 'we' know their real intents...the answer is no....

Because the politicians have designed our political system so that only the rich and powerful can afford to run for office.
Thomas Jefferson once said: "The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants." That time is way past due.

A revolution is brewing. Like our forefathers before us, who were willing to fight and die for their freedom, Americans are like lobsters in a pot, about to reach the boiling point. The government cannot continue distracting us forever; eventually, as things become unbearable, American citizens will revolt!
The current Congress is the most evil, corrupt and incompetent body ever to occupy the Capitol Building. The Bush administration is the most evil, corrupt and incompetent ever to occupy the White Office. Consider what Bush has done since 2000. He has:
1. Illegally and unconstitutionally invaded another sovereign country that in no way provoked, threatened or attacked the United States;
2. Massacred tens of thousands of Iraqi elderly, women and children without any reasonable justification;
3. Killed more than 2,500 U.S. soldiers;
4. Turned small countries away from us as they become fearful of the new "evil empire" - the U.S.A. - and consider developing their own nuclear weapons in order to defend against our invasion;
5. Tarnished our reputation as a global leader and world peacekeeper;
6. Bankrupted the U.S.A. financially and morally (we are now trillions of dollars in debt, which means YOUR taxes could within a few years eat away up to 85% of your paycheck);
7. Condoned the illegal incarceration of insignificant prisoners and torture, abuse, and even murder of those individuals;
8. Turned America into a police state where citizens are presumed guilty until proven innocent;
9. Ruined all previous efforts to manage our environment better and enhance the ecological issues so desperately needed to keep our Earth a viable place for human habitation;
10. Neglected America's poor, sick, aged, disabled, homeless, hungry, underprivileged and disadvantaged while playing "Robin Hood in Reverse" and stealing from those impoverished people to give to his rich friends, lobbyists, special interest groups, and big corporations who - in turn - make generous (if not illegal) contributions to help keep the GOP in power.
It's time for an American revolution. It's time for that "family man or woman [who] runs a house on a low budget" to get off the couch, put down the remote, and take to the streets, demanding that "We the People" get our country back! -RKO-

Political campaigns on run on big dollar budgets. That is corruption of the corporate ruled USA!!! There has been strong opposition to that and a bill was going to be introduced to abolish it whereby only a specified amount of money could be used by all candidates..that would make it more equal. Who wanted this bill? The Green Party did! Remember them...they ran Ralph Nadar for president..an honest man. But because he did not have the big corporate bucks to run his campaign it was difficult to beat the big 2 rich parties.
I know people are working hard and to tired to educate themselves on these issues but we need to change that and start educating people on the facts and get them to the polls to vote...which is the main crux of the problem: MOST PEOPLE DO NOT VOTE. If they did George Bush would never have won..and perhaps Nadar would be running the country now..or should I say it really would be a country run by the people for the people which is what the Green Party is all about...the right wing nuts try to spread lies about it being like "commies" That is all a bunch of propaganda crap. If you believe that you are like sheep and cattle and being led around. Want a voice? Vote Green Party.

Personally, I would much rather have a rich person running this country than a poor one. A rich person is much more likely to be better educated and have a better understanding of world affairs. On a final note, rich does not equal corrupt. A poor person can be just a corrupt.

Elections are expensive - just under a million dollars for a house seat election that will win on average. - just over 2.6 million for a Senate seat that wins on average. Source James Wilson (AP U.S. government text book) Lobbyists help pay for these expensive campaigns usually after they have taken office. Corporate America owns your congress without any doubt - no one can say that this money doesn't have influence on our public policy - laws are written, reviewed and (by default) voted on by the lobbyists that pay for the campaigns to a large degree. We need aggressive reform of this system asap. Democracy can be destructive if knowledge and intelligence is ignored. We need a U.S. Senate not elected by the people, but appointed by academia. A Senate of economists, efficiency experts, biologists, chemists, statisticians, philosophers - true thinkers and shakers - not just big business looking at the next quarters profits and stock options. Solution: difficult at best - National Convention needs to reform and amend the constitution severely. The old document is in serious need of a tune up.

First of all spell check your question.
Next, we vote in "rich corrupt people" because they are the ones that can afford to run for office. Do you have any idea how much a political campaign costs? Tell ya what, try to run for office against a "rich corrupt person" and see what happens.

Because who would vote for a poor corrupt person? What would you have to admire about a poor corrupt person?
And no honest person rich or poor can be elected. Why? Because the things you have to do to get elected keep you from being honest about anything!

You are very right about that. In each election, maybe not in every race, there are very honest regular people who run for office. Not everyone is corruptible. Make sure that those people who are running for office on a local level have the ideals that appeal to you. Hopefully, they will seek higher offices and that is how you get the thugs out of office like we currently have. In Texas we have several that are running for Congress, the Senate, and Governor that are great candidates. The BEST candidate in Texas is DAVID VAN OS who is running for Attorney General. Check out the billboard that is up in Texas.

B-Cuz most americans want more and more money and more and more power. THe only way in succeeding is by electing corrupt and dumb presidents that have big business investments and go to war to keep gas prices and other imports down. However what the US doesnt realize is that they will be collapsing soon and China, India and even Canada's economies are booming and their respected currencies are competing with the US Dollar. So watch-out America.

You have to be rich and corrupt to afford to run for public office. That is the only way it can be funded. Believe me, it cost A LOT of money to run for public office nowadays. Because the rich are already in office, they will work together to thwart any efforts by the voting public to change the system to anything else.
