I'm currently trying to find out about human nature, what makes people tick, why they do things, what they believe, ect...

Now I'm wondering, why do so many people seem to be so unhappy? I'm reading answers to the questions I am writing, and this is leading to not only to the conclusion that many people in this world (or at least on Y!A) cannot read or comprehend, but more worryingly, that they are largely very insecure and damaged...

What do YOU think?

Is this for some sort of a study or something? I think you will find that a lot of people on here aren't interested in deep and meaningful questions like the ones you ask.

Some people have boring/stressful jobs so they come on here for a bit of a laugh and to relax and unwind. Now if you, like the rest of us, are receiving rude and unhelpful replies, it's because the person answering does not care about the content of your question, they don't want to think about the issues that are raised or get into a big discussion so they give a silly answer.

Now if that's the view that someone takes to a question that they cannot be bothered to think about then they shouldn't bother answering it, I agree with that. But with all due respect I think you're looking into things far too much and you're judging these people and insulting their intelligence and suggesting that they must be broken people with terrible lives.

You cannot judge people like that, there are some VERY intelligent people on here asking ridiculous questions and giving equally ridiculous answers, does that mean they have issues? Of course not, they're just being silly because that's the beauty of the internet. If someone becomes abusive and calls names for no reason, then that cannot be justified.

I think you have a good mind with a lot of useful things to say but I would tread carefully when openly summing people up as stupid because you have no idea who that person is sat behind their PC!

Now my spell checker isn't worker and I'm not going to proof-read this answer so apologies for any typo's etc!

A lot of the time we just pick up on other peoples unhappiness, it can be quite catching. I think you need reminding that YA has formal, informal, academic, funny and some Totally loopy questions and answers. All of which stem from all forms of emotions, and just plain curiosity. You are obviously searching for all the negative ones, the are just as many positive in fact more.

If you go around looking for unhappiness you are bound to see it every where.

I agree there are a lot of illiterate or lazy people on here, inc' myself. who don't always get the whole of a question. But hey that's life, you may be better educated but it doesnt necessarily make you a a happier or better person, but perhaps sometimes more judgemental of others.

(The american spell checker on here is getting on my nerves

There are some many different things that lead to unhappiness that it doesn't do every grief justice to point to one single problem. However, I think they can all be grouped under a singular title of dissatisfaction - whether it be the wrong career, struggling relationships, or lack of material needs in life.

I think this is also why unhappiness is also such an equalizer. No matter how rich or poor someone may be, all it takes is one ounce of "I wish I had something more" for someone to become unhappy with their state in life.

Becuse, you thru out history things have always progress at rapid rates in history. like the enlightend age or industrial age. but when progress in a culture stops there is little to look forward too. Exsample the dark ages. People do not get promoted as rapidly. when in a small community peole are more in touch and given personal attention. when you are in over massed society you feel not important and unheard you get sad. thats why religiouse people are usually the most happy becuse they feel the are special to there god. when growing up you always have your parents who shower your with attention then when you do not have that attention anymore you become dipressed. this could also be placed into the why there is a higher suicude rate for neglected childrenm or singles.

i was going to say upbringing, but then i realized that i am basically a happy person and my sister is miserable (she literally works at it, doing things she hates just so she can b*tch about it later, etc) so i'm not sure.

i did read an article in reader's digest (quite a while ago) that basically said it is our responsibility to our family and friends to be as happy as possible. no matter how huge our problems seem to us, we should think that it could be worse. for instance, our bills are way behind..facing foreclosure, elec. disconnect, etc...but our kids are fed and in bed and safe...not in hospital beds with some life threatening disease or missing/kidnapped or swept away by tsunami or flood....it really could be so much worse on so many levels...when i think of this i feel sad for the people that are dealing with these things. and then i look at my husband and hug him and my kids and smile.

i believe it is our responsibility to be happy. if you want companionship...respect...love. be warned though, it is so much easier to b*tch and complain than to put on a smile (or even half a smile) and try to overcome lifes struggles

I think people neglect their spiritual side and concentrate on finding happiness through material means. There is more happiness about then the press would lead you to believe. Bad news sells. A recipe for happiness? Well I suppose we can do worse then be less selfish, kinder to others, learn to want what we have rather then have what we want.

Any idiot can face a crsis - it's the day to day living that wears me out.
All the art of living lies in a fine mingling of letting go and holding on.

I totally agree with you, I am truly happy with my lot, and I do read all the questions carefully, I would hate to give a wrong answer to something.
