That would have been a hard question for me to answer had I not had kid's. But since I have it's almost funny to me..it wouldn't be a question that I would immediately die for my family. My life would be over if I were to lose them..I'm their mother. If my life was over they could move on to husbands/wives kids of their own. They're young and have their whole lives ahead of them! It would seem natural to me that they would lose me anyway..just a little sooner than planned.
I pray every day that they all outlive me. I don't know how parents who lose children can move on.

A guy said that Jesus taught him to save his family. Jesus said to love your enemy and your neighbor. But He also told one guy to not go to a family funeral-let the dead bury the dead. He also said that you can't love your family and serve them and also love God-- No man can have 2 masters. So if that guy was doing it for his enemy, then that is a Christian thing to do. Jesus would not have died to save His family.
There is a TV show The Sopranos-- a mobster going to a psychologist. A guy could be a mobster selling drugs and a cold blooded killer yet he always cares for his family. Even Suddam Husein took care of his family. On the other hand if Bill Gates would have done that it would be awful. Because he is getting out of the computer business to save the world. The 2nd richest man in the world, Warren Buffet, is giving all his money ($36 million) to Bill Gates to help him.
If I sacrifice myself, then who is going to wipe out depression, cancer and obesity in the world? See my website for more on this.

Also this guy left His pregnant wife so he could do something more important. He is now the 2nd most revered (behind Jesus) person in the world (Buddha). Note Muslims do not revere Mohammad that much. "Allah is God and Mohammad is His messenger." Moses was also a messenger (prophet) of God.
I am not saying the other answers are wrong. Maybe they are drunks and drug addicts who are creating misery for others. They should see this sit above and decide again.

I'd risk my life. I love my family too much to see them suffer and I could never live with the guilt.

I'll give my life without a second thought not only out of love but the guilt of surviving would kill me anyway!

You have to servive with balancing everything.--and this is called life. No feelings of guilt--let discuss freely with them and I am sure the solution is at ur doorsteps. Face it my dear rather than going away from the truth.God bless you and will give you courage to solve all.

Risk my life. This is not hard at all. Loving is the easiest thing in the world to do.

Is it a guaranteed cure? Well I guess it wouldn't matter since I would be dead already. I would die in order to benefit others.

I would let them die, go see a psychiatrist to eliminate my guilt and then go about selfishly enjoying my inheritence.

Yes, I'd do anything for them I owe them my life and now I'll give mine to theirs.
Plus, it would make my life worth living knowing that your purpose is to be their hope.
