I personally have never heard of those days but i will have to look them up. I know here in Illinois the ST. Andrew society holds annual Highland Games in July. My guess though as to why they are celebrated in the U.S. and not Scotland is that the celebrations were started by Scottish immigrants who wanted to remember their heritage. Similar example would be why St. Patricks Day celebrations has they are held started in the U.S. We are a nation of immigrant cultures. These many cultures have blended to build an incredible country. Its the same reason Octoberfest is celebrated by German immigrants around where i live. If we do not remember and celebrate the heritage that has produced us we become something less than human.

Tartan Day? Well, I don't know about the rest of America, but New Hampshire doesn't celebrate that. I never even heard of it!

Americans don't celebrate Tartan Day. I've never heard of it, and I just checked both my calendars-it's not listed. Sorry!
