I hope you know what I mean. It's similar to the type of faucet pictured at:
http://www.sandspringsok.org/images/uploads/dept_04/faucet.jpg

As soon as I turn the water on, I get a constant, heavy spray leaking from the connection point. Having tried multiple hoses on the faucet, I have been unable to prevent this from occuring. It appears to be screwed on as tightly as possible.

Is there anything I can do to create an ideal seal to prevent water leakage?

Also, I don't know if it is affecting the water pressure in the hose, but it seems to be. How likely is that?

Make sure there is a good condition washer inside the coupling before you screw it on the faucet. It will be thick, about 3/4" rubber in an 'O' shape. If you are spraying water at the connection, your water pressure will surely drop.

Go to your local hardware store and tell them you need a rubber gasket for your garden hose and you will be all set. It goes in the end of the hose to make it seal good and not leak.

You may have to purchase the rubber seal that goes inside of the faucet and the hose

It sounds like all you need is a rubber gasket ring available at any hardware store. It goes inside your hose. Buy several for spares.

You need a washer for the inside of the connection. They sell them at the hardware store for just a few cents.

Have you checked to make sure you have gaskets in the hoses you are screwing on?
