yes and finally to ithought they were never going to get rescued

Well, the TV series ended with a usual episode, with no rescue. About 15 years after the show ended, they made a TV movie called 'Escape from Gilligans Island' where the group finally escaped the island. What happened was this:
The Professor, using weather equipment he cobbled together, realized a huge tidal wave was headed right at the island, and if they didnt escape, it would submerge the island and drown them all. So, they built a 'house boat' by securing all the huts together and tying themselves to the walls. The tidal wave washed them out to sea. After a few weeks, they were rescued by a passing ship, and brought to the USA. They were deemed heroes, and became celebrities. Ginger tried getting back into acting, but found the acting world had left her behind. The Howells were even richer than they had been before, but found that they no longer enjoyed the wealth. The Professor went back to lecturing and experiments, but found he was lonely and bored. The castaways all realized they missed the island, and each other. So, they went out on another voyage in storm and ended up stranded on another deserted island. Thats how it ended.

YES! they did get rescued and in the movie they decided to go and celebrate on the new boat of the skipper's and headed back out.Much to their surprise another fierce storm came up and they were stranded again and much to their surprise back to the same island.They started a tourist attraction on the island.

yes, they got off eventually, but ended up going back because the outside world was crazy.
