Rich, spoiled teen's parents throw a ridiculously expensive party in honor of his/her sixteenth birthday. The teen almost always gets a car (a Hummer or Mercedes or something), the party costs tens of thousands of dollars, and the boy/girl isn't truly grateful for any of it. Like many shows on MTV, Sweet Sixteen seems designed to worship wealthy people and to show everyone else how crappy their lives supposedly are.

Well they pick someone and they basically tape the planning of their sweet sixteen. The invitations and stuff like that. Anyway some of them are so rich that they get Benz's and celebrities to come to their party. Some parties are hot and some are not but the ones that are hot are really nce to watch.

It's a bunch of spoiled whiny brats screaming because there daddy isn't giving them what they want. And then they end up with a BMW and a party that costs more than most people's wedding! It's a joke, and a waste of your life to watch.

It's very formulaic if you look at it.
Basically, the pattern is:
meet the kid -> kid explains the party details (theme, wardrobe, guests, etc.) -> kid meets with planners, slaves, etc. -> something inevitably goes wrong somewhere in the details -> kid has fit -> things get fixed/changed -> kid smoozes with friends/celebrities -> they live happily ever after.
