If God can gave us free will, then why should we follow him? He can't even protect us or anything! If you answer heaven then you don't really love god you just want to go to eternal paradise. That's greedy. Oh yeah and how come we don't see heaven when we're flying in airplanes and stuff?

God has given us free will. He does not control what we do - if we sin, it is against us. If we do not sin, He is pleased. God is Good, the devil is evil. There are both in the world and each does not interfere with the other - it is us who must choose.

Even though I find your question pompous and ignorant I will answer it

With the 9/11 accident what about the people that felt led to not attend work that day?? Do you think that just happened for no reason. That was God leading them not to go to work that day. To be protected by God you need to have a relationship with him. And he gave us freewill to be able to choose to serve and follow him. Or else he might as just created a bunch of robots!!! Heaven is both a reward and something that we get in turn for believing in him. You don't see it in the skies because its impossible to see by humans eyes at this point until the rapture.

Most likely because the people 9/11 happened to are more and more turning away from God.

It was all of those people time to go. They just happen to be where they could all leave at once. The ones whose number wasn't up got out or wasn't there that day.
