By their attitude towards you. For example, when you're really succesful but they always find something wrong in your way of doing stuff. In other words, JEALOUSY and destructive criticism. Also when your friends force you or pressure you to do stuff you don't like or are used to such as drugs, premarital sex, alcohol... when they want you to be somebody else but YOURSELF!

Depending on the type of friend you are and how you treat people. You can't just say who is a good friend or a bad one. You would have to know the person and the situation. Everyone is different and may have different views on the subject. No one is ever right.

Genuine friends are those type of people who only want the very best for us and only want us to be happy no matter what. They are there for us, and only want to share and experience everything while never asking for anything in return. Any material wants and needs they have they can easily get for themselves because they have a high degree of self confidence, self esteem and self worth.
Friendships other than genuine are everywhere. These are people who fake sincereity , pretending to be your friend when they only want to use you for something that they don't have. They tend to choose their words carefully when you ask something from them and they never let you into their lives completely, always hiding stuff from you. When you hear about social gatherings after the fact and your so called friends never invited you, that is a sign that they are using you too. They are very selfish too. They only think about themselves. They can only play one hat when life requires them to be able to play many hats to deal with life. They tend to have their own pity parties when nobody out there feels the same way they feel about themselves..they never respect your sense of people or your sense of trust either. .

Good friends are there for you when you need them, they give and take in the relationship. Bad friends use you for something, like a car, or your money. Bad friends push you into situations that you aren't comfortable in, or that you know are wrong. Bad friends are inconsiderate. If you're in doubt, they are probably a bad friend.

i don't really know if you can say there are "good" or "bad" friends because everyone can be a good influence to someone, and also might not be too good of an influence to someone else....everyone needs friends, and you can't just cast aside the people you consider to be bad....i think its more of what they bring out of you....do they bring out the bad in you or the good in you? are you worse after being friends with them or not?? you should try to steer clear of friends that bring out the bad in you....be nice to them and say HI, but don't get close to them....there are people who are good that can bring out the bad in us....and there are people who are good that bring out the good in us....use your own judgment...hope this helps

Bad friends are those who stay with you only as long as you have something they want or something you have which they can make use of.
True friends always remain with you no matter what happens.
