I'm currently reading it right now, and I find it a pretty good book. The only thing I do NOT like is that sometimes you cannot make out the words of what the Scots are saying.
There's history about it where it's actually a true story. When I get to Ireland, I would love to go into further detail with it. Also, I heard that there is a statue of Bobby in one of the parks.
Opinions?

It's a true story but the book isn't totally correct. John Grey, Bobby's owner was a policeman not a farmer. Greyfriars Kirkyard is in Edinburgh Scotland and you can get a guided tour around the kirkyard (churchyard/graveyard). If you do ever get to Scotland (not Ireland) and listen to a true Scotsman talking the "brogue" you will be able to go back and understand the book a little better. There's a statue of Bobby opposite the graveyard's gate, at the junction of George IV Bridge, and Candlemaker Row. Bobby is buried just inside the gate of the kirkyard not far from his master's grave-he couldn't be buried any closer because an animal can't be buried in consecrated ground.

I visited Edinburgh several years ago and saw the statue of little Bobby. Until then I hadn't realized the Disney movie was based on a real dog. Partly to antagonize my Scottish friends, who viewed the statue of Bobby as a little bit of tourist hohum, and partly curious about the little dog, I bought 'Greyfriars Bobby' and read it while vacationing. I must say I enjoyed it quite a bit.
