I get the same thing! They hurt and they are nasty! I have read some people are just prone to get them and some not so much. You can do one of two things... A. shave w/ new razor everyday and always always use shaving cream. Also always exfoliate! And use a lotion with aloe vera gel or green tea extract in it. B. Go to a dermo. and get perscription med lotion! Now if you get them I actually figured out the best way to get them gone quickly...I use a acne product that has three steps in it and clean it like a zit!

Hey,
I totally feel for you because I have that problem too, but ever since I followed my dermatologists' directions, it's become much better.
1st, I don't know if you shave or wax. Personally I wax, but found that even when I shave the same thing happens, just not as bad.
What I do every day now is scrub my legs with a bath brush or loofah with shower gel with exfoliators (Try Dove, because it's gentle and frangrance free, and the micro-beads also help exfoliate dead skin cells that may clog pores and prevent regrowth hair from surfacing).
Second, I apply a moisturing lotion that delays growth (dermatologist recommended), and I have found it very effective because I used to wax every 3 weeks and ever since I've been using this lotion I wax every 4 and sometimes even 5 weeks. In the meantime my skin gets a chance to renew itself. My skin is much better these days, and the ingrown hairs have significantly decreased - primarily because I wax less, and the chances of having ingrown therefore decreases as well.
I suggest you try these 2 simple steps, it takes only a few minutes per day and you will love the results. Also, if you are like me, please don't pick at them, because you are going to have scars and scabs. I have found that if you just leave them alone, they will eventually come out on their own (although I know it becomes an obsession).
Anyway, the best alternative we have is to get laser hair removal. If you have the money, go for it. That will permanently eliminate all your worries! Goodluck and let me know if you need more info on the name of the lotion perhaps.

Try a cortisone creme and/or an oatmeal bath for the rash and a loofah on the top of your legs. If those don't helpI would see a dermatologist

You should find a good dermatologist in your area. They can recommend over the counter lotions or give you a prescription for something. I would not go all summer without wearing shorts.

I have the exact same problem...annoying isn't it??? Use can use a medicated cream (I use hydrocortisone...or Cortaid) but when I wax my bikini line I use a cream with aloe for sunburn then I put baby powder on it to keep it dry. I normally don't have a problem from then on.
