I am a 22 year old girl. I had a really close friend pass away in a freak car accident a year ago tomorrow. It's a really sad story. Anyway, I always think of this conversation that we had in her car one day. We were headed to a job fair, and just talking about random things. Like girls do. We got on the subject of death, and the fear of getting old. She told me, " I know I'm going to die young." " I won't ever live to be very old, I just know!" I told her to shut up, yes she well. Anyway she died 3 years later. How did she know? I mean I can't picture myself old, does that mean I'm going to go young? She was so sure in her mind, like she just knew...?

Emily,
While it may seem as if your friend knew her own destiny to be short lived in life, I would be inclined to also believe that in relating her thoughts of this too you she in no way expected her young life to end nearly so soon or in such a tragic way. There are those who believe they can see their own future and personally I feel some do but in your friends case I think her words were spoken to you with no thought of losing her life quite as suddenly as she did. I am sorry for your loss and hope that you will find peace with this in time. You have a wonderful family and are obviously deeply devoted to them as seems evidenced at your greetings website. Which by the way is very nicely done. May life always be good to you.
Best Wishes Always

No one knows when they're number is up. Your friend just might have been more accepting of the fact that everyone dies sooner or later and that she was living in the moment enjoying life because she knew how precious life was and knew it could happen just as easily young or old. I'm sorry for your loss. I know how hard it is to lose someone special to you, but dwelling on when you're going to die is going to make the rest of your time living, no matter how long or short that time frame is, completely miserable. Live in the spirit of your friend and embrace your life. It's the only true way to know you've lived once that number is drawn.

I am paraphrasing somebody wrote recently about this but that usually when a friend saying she predicts things she does not have "the gift". The psychology professionals, who do believe, think that the people having esp are very discreet persons in regards to vocalizing any of their "power thoughts".

she may have pre determined her fate. is the glass half full or half empty? some people belive they will live forever and design their life that way. others think they are just waiting for the end to come and that it comes closer every day. ive heard amazing survivor stories of people that walk away from tragic car accidents. i believe that makes the difference.

Well, possibly she had some kind of premonition. But more likely, she was a teenager. Teenagers are always having feelings about this and that. I'm very sorry for the loss of your friend - I hope it helps you remember always that life is precious!
Best wishes and God bless.

It reminds a story which happened in my childhood.
I was 10 years old, our neighbor's daughter was 14 years old, and we was talking at their door's home : She told me, I don't want to grow up, I wish if I could stay 10 years old like you. Her parents divorced. Their Mom moved them to France. And my friend deceased at 18 years old, gas leak in the bathroom.
She stayed young.

Either she didn't and this isjust a freak co-incidence or she had sub-clinical depression and committed suicides. Many 'freak' single vehicle accidents are suicides or suicide attempts.
Sorry about your friend though. I hope she did not suffer much pain tfor too long!

It depends how she said it. It is possible that she didn't mean it or was just goofing around, but sometimes, it's intuition, especially if she was around a car
