Has creation of Pakistan helped the people who are now Pakistanis and would have been Indians otherwise?

Pakistanis and Indians, please refrain from answering - at least for 24 hours and let others answer.
Pros: They have their own country with thier own constituition and can live under the laws that they create for themselves.
Cons: Three military dictatorships; >50% of budget going towards 'defense' against a country they would have been and were part of; worse poverty, literacy and Standard of living rates than the country they separated from; worldwide questionmark on their stance on terrorism as the ost wanted criminals in world call it home and top nuclear scintists sell weapons to half the rouge countries inthe world.

my personal opinion is that its better this way. if these two nations were one, there would probably be alot of bombing and attack on Innocent people of that area. you know how Muslims are and when they don't get what they want, they go to extremism. it would probably be like today's Palestine.

The British ruled for over 300 years. During their rule they treated different religions differently. India wanted their own secular homeland and Pakistan wanted their own Muslim nation. Britain gave them their independence in 1947.

So they never really were Indians, since under British rule they were basically separated anyway.
Did Bangladesh mess up by separating from Pakistan in 1971?

Dude: most people dont like laws or nationalities imposed onto them, tour own country with borders and all is not perfection itself just because somebody concocted self gain and motives for others alike, right? Pakistan is not a country, it is more than that. Pakistan is a nation of arab. Plus it is not under your or others god, perhaps not even under its own, thank you. I too see you are not familiar or fond of some foreigners, specially who tell you better or explain these easy concepts, yet unfamiliar concepts to white folks like you. Third world countries do not trust law, endorse constitutions or support candidates like your, we believe not in freedom or appraise in appearance of liberty itself. Those are known to all of us as cocomoney and unreasonable concepts. Terrorism is not crime nor kill, it is a concept, sure will not agree on base of propaganda and wishes, not beliefs. Sure am not patient, only smart enough to be tired and confused not about iddle thinking and wishes of others to help us remain in poverness and political trauma.

It's helped them in that they'd be a minority in the old pre-1940's India and probably not a minority that would have very much say in how they lived their lives. They would be no better off than they are today and almost certainly much, much worse off.

Eventually there would have been a Pakistan no matter what; probably best it was done early.
