Its more of a lack of talent than desire. Most of the people in the U.S. dont even know how to spell soccer, much less play it. Unlike all the other countries in the World Cup, where thats all they do is play soccer. I think we bit off more than we could chew, especially with a #5 ranking that we didint deserve anyway.

Usa Did not have the determination and also does not have good players
Donovan played really bad , howard did not play and freddy adu was not there
Adu would have played they would have won , may be
but all is gone and Usa can do better in the 2010 World Cup

You're probably right. Teams coming from countries where there is no strong interet for soccer really have a bad time in the World Cup.
I've heard that in the US only female soccer is popular. Is there a female World Cup ? Americans should do better there.

Disagree. It was because of a mistake by the referee.
Although, the USA would have lost to Brazil later anyway.

Agree, and also spadingballa07 has a point.....4-5-1 doesn't work....u need atleast 2 forwards to finish the passes that midfielders work so hard to create. US women's soccer is strong, but the men's needs lot more work, and better coach than Arena!

They lost because Landon Donovan played like a sissy girl. He was afraid to take someone on. Also, the formation (4-5-1) was no good for them, they couldn't score.

I completely agree with you. If USA would have tried more, they may have gone to the second round.

I think that is one point as well. But USA just doesn't have the players frankly. They need to improve much.
