My partner and I will be visiting the City in July to celebrate his birthday. Has anyone taken this cruise? What's it like? Is it worth it?

A bit overpriced, but if you are visiting from out of town, it is probably worth it.

As an alternative, take the San Francisco ferry to Sausalito. You get the bay cruise for a lot cheaper, and Sausalito is a gorgeous town to toodle around in.

Yeah, the Bay Cruise is really unnecessary if you're already going to be taking another ferry anywhere else.

The Vallejo Ferry goes to Six Flags Marine World theme park (with a short free bus transfer). The Tiburon and Sausalito ferries will take you to those very pleasant "Beverly Hills-eque" Marin County towns. The Oakland/Alemeda ferry will get you to the USS Hornet and the Potomac Presidential Yatch.

Even if you're only going to Angel Island or Alcatraz (short 10-15 minute ride), I don't think the one-hour Bay Cruise actually adds much more to the experience other than the fact that it has narration. It basically goes in a circle around the bay without actually stopping, after all (for 20.00 dollars a head!). And I question the wisdom of paying that much money to go nowhere.

We took the ferry to Alcatraz, it was great. My only suggestion, buy your tickets in advance on their website. If you try to purchase them on-site you will stand in line forever and the cruise you want to go on may sell out.
Have fun!

Fun once, I don't think I'd bother again. So I guess the answer's yes. You go around the bay, to the gg bridge, they have faux gambling etc.
