When someone asks how much a house is worth, there's a saying in real estate, a house is worth how much someone will pay for it.
So too are the services of people in entertainment.
There're 6.5 billion people in this world. Entertainers represent a very, very small percentage of this population. This makes their skills and services extremely UNIQUE.
According to the law of supply and demand therefore, why in the name of all that's fair, should they be paid an AVERAGE wage?
Ever heard of an entertainer's agent holding a gun to an employer's head in negotiating a client's contract? The billionaire employers are money-savvy - heck, that's how they made their billions!!! They must think therefore, they're getting one helluva deal. Don'tcha think???
Think what could be done with the billions spent annually on the military (and currently trillions), pursing the most destructive means to MURDER other human beings - THAT'S what keeps me up nights.
Peace,

I agree. Granted, these people serve a certain entertainment function, but that's all they do; they don't actually accomplish anything of lasting value for anyone else. I think a good doctor, or car mechanic, or even garbageman, is doing far more valuable work.
But the real scandal is not in sports but in business, especially the grossly high salaries and benefits paid to senior managment officials How can officials at Ford and GM justify their high salaries when their firms are so close to bankruptcy and GM has to lay off 10,000 or more employees?

No I don’t think footballers are overpaid. They’re watched by the biggest audiences of any entertainer in the world week in, week out and deserve every penny they get. They push themselves to physical exhaustion twice a week, unlike any other professional sportsman, and whenever they make a mistake they get nailed in the press, they’re judged on their performances.
Footballers can only work until their mid-30s, there’s only a short time period where they can earn that kind of money and most of them make it back for their clubs. Just think how much David Beckham earnt for Real Madrid when he went there through shirt sales alone, millions and millions, so that pays for his wages.

Really don't you all think these sports players and CEO's get paid way more than they should. I know one CEO for Xerox who got paid millions if he had done a good job or not and if and when he died his wife would still get his retirement money. That sob ran the company well into the ground.

As soon as the stadiums aren't filled to capacity at $300 a seat. They get paid that kind of money because we pay that kind of money. It is just like TV. As long as we keep watching second rate junk, they'll keep feeding it to us.

It's all business.
They do make a ridiculous amount of money. However, people still go to the games, and watch the tube,go to the movies.
Stop wasting money on pleasurable diversions and all that trite sh*+ will go away.

i dont think so..i mean they train really hard and have to work twice as much as normal people do..that involves all the traveling and touring....which means staying away from home alot and all that stuff...so yeah they do deserve a higher fee...the same way people at higher post deserve to get tons of extra perks..:)

Well, if people like you would stop paying for tickets to games and movies, watching TV shows, and doing other things that supports them, things would change!
