I have read in a novel that a young woman did housesitting as a job. Is there real demand to that in the UK? I am a teacher of English, from a EU country, and during the summer holidays I would enjoy spending time in Britain like that, feeding the cats, etc.

By the way I have lots of friends over there but it would be fun to stay this way rather than with them.
There must be agencies where I could register and be checked out, surely. :)

People do have a need for it in the UK, however they generally get people by word of mouth from people they know as they need to trust the sitter completely.

People have to trust you, so how will you establish that?
Usually you can only live free for doing that, not usually also get paid. But often free rent. But you have to hustle the jobs.

I would see if you get hired by a housesitting company since you don't know anyone there.
