i havent been happy in the past couple years i know i am ready to move on, whats the best way to let him know with out starting world war 3??

Explain your feelings to him and specifically about the things you're most unhappy with in the relationship. Let him know that you're not sharing this with him to get into a big debate of how to fix it but simply that you felt you owed it to him to be honest about your feelings right now. Let him know that these are not things you're presently in the emotional state of mind to deal with and try and fix until you've had some time alone to sort out your feelings and where you want to go in the relationship.

There isn't one. This is not the opinion you wanted to see, but you will have to deal with reality to get through this. It's going to be extremely difficult for a while once you except and go on with your life, but it's something you feel has to be done or you wouldn't be here trying to get confirmation. If you've done all you can to make sure there's no hope, outings together, spiced up bedroom, communicating about things that need to be changed openly, etc. then it would be best to let go than push it to the point of no return. Then there won't be any regret for letting go.

One doesnt simply throw away a marriage, because one think's one is unhappy. Hopefully there are no children.
For starters, you need to let HIM know you're unhappy......followed by the reasons, WHY.
You could simply be in a rut, and need to spice up your life together. Life doesnt consist of fireworks on a daily basis.
Point being........seek assistance to resolve issues.
When all else fails, and you're still 'done'.....prepare for WW3.
