First forget the term negotiation. Did you ever have to negotiate your life before this your spuse was in it? Keep in mind that inorder to be in a controlling relationship you have to have 1 person who in the controller and 1 person who allows the other to control them. If you want freedom than allow yourself to have freedom and stopped allowing your spouse to control you.

You shouldn't have to negotiate your freedom, we're in America, not the middle east. Last time I checked, women and men both had EQUAL freedom to do as they please. If your spouse is controlling, it will only get worse from here. If you're having to think of ways to get permission from your spouse to do things, then you already know more freedom is a pipe dream. Why are you with someone like that? Do you enjoy leading the role of a servant, rather than a loving, trusting equal in the relationship? Would he allow you to control his freedom? I may be able to offer you some more advice if you would elaborate a bit on the situation. I'm not sure what your circumstances are, but they don't sound very good. Be careful, I am worried about your situation.

There is no negotiation with a control freak. Just try not to give him a complete answer. Little info. works best with folks like him.

Depends on what kind of freedom you have in mind....And what your definition of controlling is.
Usually two adults can work thru things. If your situation lacks such, then perhaps you need to take your question to a higher level.......And caution may also be wise on your part. One should never overlook the possibility of violence from one who feels compelled to control another.

Maybe work out an agreement where you get a night out, and he gets a night out to himself to. If he can't be fair to you then he has no respect for you and you need to get rid of him!
