If you say "NO" than tell me if you have ever bought a Coach purse, or an overly expensive anything for that matter. If you have bought something you couldn't afford than why? Certainly not so you can keep it in your bedroom all day. Have you ever bragged about something you got?
Imagine if there were no people in the world. No aunts uncles sisters boyfriends teachers entertainer ETC. If YOU were the only one left on earth. You would probablly go crazy for a couple of weeks but once that got old, you wouldn't have an interest for these things.
Know why? There would be noone to impress.
So why do we spend riduculously on things that don't really make us happy.

Well, first off, I dont spend on useless items.
I dont have an overly expensive thing, that I keep "stashed away" in a bedroom or any other place, because everything I have, I utilize in my daily walk.

The tools I have downstairs, I am using to remodel a room. The stuff in my bedroom is for sleeping and clothes for my back.

Nic nacs on the walls, are for the family to enjoy and keep the walls from looking bare.

And to answer your question, sure, I would go nuts, if I was the last person on Earth!!
I go nuts when I am alone and the wife an kids are not here, because I am a "people person". I love to talk to everyone, (reason I am on the net), and if anyone is interested, then I have an opinion, to express too.

I wish you well..

Jesse

Nope, I don't. I buy things because I like them - I could give a damn what other people think about them. I had coach purses I inherited from my mom in the 80s, way before they were the teeny bopper fashion they are now. If I so choose to buy a coach purse now, it will be because I want to, and because I can afford it. I think it's foolish and insecure to buy things you can't afford, why would you risk financial trouble for dumb things?

If there were no people left on earth, I'm sure I would be upset, but not because I would need to impress people. I would miss love, laughter, and happiness, which are the most important things on earth, not the crap that manufacturing companies (no matter what fancy brand name they attach to themselves) spew out. If you really believe the need to impress supersedes all things, that's sad and you should open your mind.

I definitly care what others think of me, but I wish I didn't. I am a very "thrifty" person, and a mother of 2 so I seldom look my best. I just keep my fingers crossed that when the kids are a little older I'll get back in the habit. But for now, I buy only what I need, which is very little. And while I care what people think, It doesn't really have an affect on the way I do things or how I look or dress.

yes and no

No in the fact that I know that not everyone will like me or understand how I am and so I don't care really what they think. I figure if ppl get me then they will be my friends, if they don't well we wouldn't really get along anyway. Also, no in the fact that I am not to worried about what ppl will think about my ideas, or tattoos or...whatever that makes me...me

Now the Yes part I do care how I look each day. I dress nice for work wear some makeup because I am representing my company and myself. I don't want to look like a bum. I don't want to embaress my kids in public w/my tatta's hanging out because I am their mother. Yes in the fact I also care about other peoples feelings so I would think about them before I say something that might offend them. I also hope they think about mine before they say something rude too.
I have bought a coach purse but not to brag about it because I liked it. It was huge and holds all my crap. I tend to not buy label things in hopes that someone will like me because I wouldn't want friends that are label whores...way too judgemental and shallow. I buy nicer stuff because it will last or the material is nice and soft.

I think most rational ppl are the same way. To say no I don't care...then why do you even get out of bed in the morning. And to say Yes more than anything...well you just gotta develop into a person more.

Everyone cares to a point. It's how much you let it get to you that matters. No, I don't waste money on purses or spend $200 on a pair of shoes, but I own a nice home and 2 nice cars, because I like things like that not because I care what someone thinks about it.

I'm not interested in impressing people. I think that's a sign of insecurity. And I never buy things to brag. If I buy something, it's because I want it for myself or because I need it for myself. If I were the only person on earth I'd miss a lot of things, but most definitely not the possibility to brag or to impress people.

As for the title of your question, I only care what SOME people think about me, basically my friends, my family and, for operative reasons, my students.

I am willing to pay money for things i like. I shirt that makes me feel good. I skirt i like the way it flows around my legs. NOt to impress others. Pants that feel good. Shoes that are comfortable. I buy my clothes mostly at garage sales and thrift stores. Sometimes i will pay a bit more if i think something will last and be durable. I care about conducting myself in an honorable way with integrity and others can make their own decisions.

i think you just answered your own question & its a good one. Your right people do like to impress others & i think everyone no matter how many times they swear up & down they don't care about what people think of them, they do. No matter how much or little. But if there was only one person on earth i bet their self-esteem would skyrocket because there would be nobody else's looks or desires to compete with.

I don't care what people think about me. Do you know why? Because I like who I am, and I'm comfortable in my own skin. I've never gone into debt to buy something "ridiculously expensive" for myself. That's not to say that if I loved something that you determine to be ridiculously expensive, I wouldn't buy it for myself. If I like it, I could care less if you think I shell out too much for it. Know why? Well, I guess because like I said, I don't care what other people think about me. If it makes ME happy, then that's good enough for me.

You should worry more about what makes YOU happy, and less about how much other people spend on their designer clothing and accessories. And you're just as bad as they are by judging them for it.
