Well now this is a great question so I will tell you my story and hope it helps somebody along the way.One Christmas we had a Christmas get together at my oldest sisters house and my youngest sister told me she told all her friends that I was a poet and an author. I was ticked off at her for doing that because it was true I loved to write poems but I had never published any of them.Cindy made me make her a promise that I would one day write a book of poems and get it published.Cindy went around the room kissing all of us and telling us she loved us. It was strange for all of us to even be altogether it isn't the normal thing and my oldest sister said she felt like this was going to be the last Christmas we could or would all be together. Guess what it was. Cindy was killed in an alcohol related crash several month es later. Leaving me with a promise I couldn't full fill. My mother came to me and told me she was waiting for me to keep the promise I had made to Cindy. Well the book has been done for many years now and I am now going to finally finish what was started over 20 years ago.

In 2nd grade during our class tryouts for my homeroom academic team people were crying b/c they believed that I would have a temper tantrum if I wasn't put on the team (I had one 2 hours before, doh!). Then when the scores were announced they thought I cheated b/c they could not believe that I was that smart.
I placed 1st in the first out of 2 heats of my schools 4th Grade Olympiad and my own classmates booed me despite representing them b/c lil cry baby me beat out the other popular kids in the 4th grade. I went on to finish 2nd in my grade losing to a guy who should have been in the 5th (I lost by half a step).
I think about those events a lot b/c both times I faced the same issues.
1. People underestimate me. Even now to this day I have to prove myself time and time again.
2. I can't count on anyone to be in my corner. But those who do, I truly treasure.
3. I no longer wear my emotions on my sleeves as I used to. Unfortunately, I now come off as stoic and mean to those who don't know me.

My late grandfather, God rest his soul. He was the most inspiring person in my life until his untimely passing because he always set a good example for my brothers and me. He was also my father figure for most of my life because my father wasn't around much with work and his hobbies.

I was told my gran was going to die.She brought me up,was like my mum.I had 2 girls, one was always walking backwards in her baby walker.anyway I felt my heart was going to break in half.I stayed with her 2 days waiting for her to die,she held on.I was forced to return home to my girls. That night at exactly the same time my daughter took her first step forward, and the phone went.I knew.It was like a sign, she had died, but like my daughter I had to move forward in life.It was as if she had said a part of her was still here,in the next generation,That moment turned my life around and gave me strength to carry on.

My Great Aunt Velma who just passed away on the 16th.
She was in World War II as an Aviation Girl and went on from there. If anything, she has taught me to stand up for what I believe in and to not let anyone walk all over you.

i think when i went to a country in asia...rode in a car...and got into an accident which left 20 stitches on my head. when u dont have the fast paced, high quality medical stuff u do here in america, it makes u rethink alot of things n how much we take so much in life for granted. and even though most pplz who have life threatening situations like dat feel dat whole "i see life in a diff way now" they tend to forget it...which is why in da end of dat same month, i caught malaria n nearly died again LOL....so yeah... live life to the fullest...

It was Sept. 11, 2001. I have always been in EMS, a firefighter, and a cop. This truely pissed me off......and it inspired me to get even more certifications......to be prepared for just about anything. Currently I have 14 certifications, and I'm in Iraq supporting our soldiers........Best of luck to you

I am far too cynical to be inspired by people but occasionally somebody (usually somebody I barely know) does something random and unexpected that captures my imagination and whoosh! - I'm off on one!
