Fays gave you some good advice to kill some of them but, in my yard at least, that is not enough. Forget bats. I have tried it.

A handheld fogger has been my best answer. Mine uses propane and makes a lot of fog but I have an acre with lots of bushes. The store brands work well, too.

The secret is to spray them in the morning before they start buzzing around. Then, if you have a party, again an hour before.

I find this keeps them down for about 2-3 weeks. I live in Houston where we have a lot of these nasty pests.

Try attracting birds to your yard. They eat all kinds of bugs. There are different types of plants you can grow that have natural repellent qualities. Check with a local garden center. Also make sure there is no standing water in your yard. This makes ideal breeding conditions for mosquitos. Make sure birdbaths are changed regularly and get rid of anything that will collect water.

Get rid of any standing water! Buckets, tires, standing water, that is where they breed. Get rid of the free standing water and you will not have a problem anymore. If you have a pond in your yard check out Lilypns Water Gardens for frogs/polywogs! They willmunch away at the little eggs and larva.

My neighbor got one of those traps that run off propane. It works really good. They are kind of expensive though. There are many different kinds and some work better than others here is some examples I don't know personally if they are any good.

Bats, citronella candles, no stagnant water areas, but ultimately insect repellent on your body.
