well it depends how you broke up with him and if you broke up in a good way than just tell him you want to be friends with him

It depends on how mature you both are and if you or he still have romatic feelings for each other. I wouldn't recommend being friends right away. I am friends with an ex-boyfriend but we were friends before. We tried to take it to the next level but it just felt weird so we took a brake and we are now really good friends again.

Sure, why not, eventually the pain ends and you realize that he still has the same personality and qualities that you have always enjoyed. It is after the dust settles from the initial break up that a friendship can be formed. Give yourself time to heal and try not to say or do anything that will cause permanent damage to a future friendship.

when each of you starts to date someone new, it will lead to problems with jealousy.
leave your ex in the past where he belongs and learn from what went wrong, and move on.
