Mercury always moves forward, in it's own
frame of reference, but appears to move
backwards in the zodiac when it passes
between us and the Sun... this happens
usually 3 times a year about 3 weeks; the
next time this will happen is from July 4
to July 29.

On July 4 at 19:34 GMT Mercury will appear
to be stationary with respect to the background
stars, and then will move "westward" (the normal
motion of the Sun and planets being eastward
through the zodiac); on July 29 at 0:31 GMT
it will again come to a "stop" and then resume
it's normal eastward motion.

Any good astronomy program should show the
timing of these events.

Mercury is an inner planet. It never retrogresses. Only planets further out from earth retrogress.

Mercury and Venus appear to swing in arcs back and forth across the sun, like a pendulum.

It is not retrograde now but will be in early July. I called up positions every few days at the your sky site and Ra is increasing now but will decrease starting in early July.

Don't listen to those to tell you that mercury doesn't go into retrograde; if it didn't, it would be in orbit aroung the earth.
