How crass can one party be?
(This is a Republican bill, introduced by a Republican. The Democrats have already come out against it, so don't bother saying that both parties want it.)

EDIT: Mr. Never....... My economic status isn't any of your concern. Instead of throwing insults around, why not answer the question? Why does your party need a pay raise?

Kilmrite: How do you know you make more than me? Why are you so sure I want the government involved in my life? Just because I fit some kind of pre-determined sterotype in your mind doesn't mean you know all about me. I could assume you are a lazy white person who lives off of trust fund money and drives a porche, but I'd be just as wrong as you are, wouldn't I? By the way, if you think we live in a democracy, you're very naive.

The best reason is because your just like us here in Canada when it comes to elections. We know the people running are just a bunch of liars who will say anything to get elected and don't really care about us or the country.
The result is we don't bother looking into what the the parties stand for or what they want to do with thier term in office. That leads to low voter turn out and some scum bag gets elected to the highest office in the land with less than 50% of the qualified voters actually voting for him/her. Same **** every time.
But keep this in mind as long as you vote you have the right to complain, if you didn't vote SHUT THE HELL UP!!!

Because they are greedy. Simple as that. Republicans hold a majority in congress right now, so the bill will probably be passed.
Conservative Republicans all despise welfare because it's the government giving money to people that should be able to help themselves, money that they say can better be used elsewhere. But this is a government giving money to itself, and conservative Republicans will probably support that as long as their party is the one proposing it and they are in power.
The Republican Party can do almost anything right now with no fear of protest by their supporters, all they have to say is gay people are evil and the masses drool. Propaganda is an extremely effective tactic when used right.

our party needs a pay raise because they can do it. if you were highly educated you could do the same for your self. we live in a country of democracy, not communism. there is no reason why everyone should get the same. hard workers should not have to give their money to those poor people who choose not to get educated and sit around all day and leach off of society. here to all you lazy libs, BECOME A PRODUCTIVE MEMBER OF SOCIETY and quite your bitching of the "rich get richer and poor get poorer". I work for my money and just because i make more then you does not mean i should give some so it is equal.

I'd suggest you look into Enzi Amdt. No. 4376 before saying that Republicans didn't vote for a raise in the minimum wage. Look at who voted for it versus who voted against it.
Likewise, who is "us"? An increase in the minimum wage would actually hurt me, because it would increase the prices of a lot of the commodities that I consume.

I think that's pretty low of them to do, but I have a suggestion for the all the Democrats opposed to the measure: Give the increase in their salaries to a charity of their choosing, or to fund a government program of their choice.

I think the answer is simple, if you give the riff raff a raise you might have to pay a little more for that hamburger or gallon of gas,but what the hell they pay Starbucks employees well so that $6.00 cup of coffee wont go up to much.

What crap! I'll bet you a dollar to a doughnut that the Dems take the raise. Its an old ploy. If they don't vote against the raise, it goes through automatically. Then they tell you, " I didn't vote for a raise".
