A black person can't bring up thier own history with out being accused of blaming white people for their problems. That isn't even close to it I work hard for everything I have. I'm appreciative of where I come from, I don't walk around like you or anyone else did anything to me. I still face racism today not to the extent of our past I shrug that off no biggey. So basically in other races of peoples minds if I talk about it than I'm not over something that never happend to me. Of course I'm over it, but remembering it is what keeps me grounded. It makes me appreciate my life I'm sure that goes for most black folks why doesn't anyone get that.

If the terrorist did what they did and americans can place the blame on a specific people, and also say that they will never forget, why can't I recognize the people who benifited by what was done to my ancestors and i say that I'll never forget. If I had a problem with whites it would be justified. But because I know it was done out of fear I can accept it a little better.Fear of loosing what I think belongs to me will make me do stuff with out thinking of the reprocussions.Life is what it is.We did not create it so we can't really direct it,but to gether we can change it.Education is the key in creating Knowlege,Knowledge is the key to freedom.

I, personally, have not heard anyone say to forget the past. The past is the past and it can't be changed. So there is no way of forgetting it. All we are saying is don't blame us for what happened. I personally was not there. I do think it was wrong that it did happened. However, don't take it out on me. Don't make me pay for their mistake.

I also believe a white person can not bring up their history without being criticized. So I think we should all just live for the moment. The right here, right now. If we all live with hatred in our hearts then the world will always be at war.

By the way, I have been to Africa twice. It is a very beautiful continent. I would suggest everyone to visit there at one time or another.

i agree, how can someone get over something like that u can't get over history. It's funny there are still types of slavery in this country. Are you familiar with the sharecroppers? A lot of them lived around the Gulf of Mexico states until hurricane Katrina. But all they did for a living for over 100 years was pick cotton for low wages less than $10-12 a day. White people don't understand because they never had to worry about being stopped by the cops while they are out, or being mistaken for a criminal, or having people stalk you while you shop.

Because they don't want to hear about it. It don't have to be where blacks come from it just have to be how whites treated blacks during anytime in history. It directly affects whites in a negative way which is why they bring up forgetting it. They don't want to be criticize for something they didn't do which is understandable. But telling you to forget about it is not, I don't remember it to keep grounded but to not make 300 + years of Lynching, oppression, dehumanization, and exploitation of Blacks go in vain. To me if you forget it is the same as following that "old slaves masters plan." Which was use to keep blacks ignorant and docile. Did you know that the main reason they could keep you slave is by keeping you a fool? They said " shave off the brute's mental history and create a multiplicity of phenomena of illusions." If you don't know the truth then how can you be set free?

Like anything white people need a reason to justify you to forget it. They want you to because they simply do not want to hear about it. So they will have to come up with reason for you to forget it. Like "Africans sold other Africans into slavery" so we should blame the Africans, so they want have to hear about it. But they don't tell you that Europeans went half a world away to trade with them and set up forts alone the coast. They don't tell you that the "Africans who didn't sell were either going to be shot or slaves theirselfs. But if you don't know this then you are lead to believe that which is their plan, ignorant of your history.

Have you notice that they want you to forget ALL the crimes that their people did, but want you to remember and blame ALL that happen on the "Africans". See this is why we talk about it because white people will not, they will always tell it the way that benefits them. Thats why blacks always remind them of what really happen. Because if you don't your still under that "old slaves master plan." Which is to keep you a fool and void of the truth.

then i congratulate you for being able to elevate your thoughts and be a productive human being. unfortunately, the so called leaders of the african american community like for african americans to remain "victims". they do this only for their benefit for if everyone felt as you do, what power or wealth would they have? it is good that you do your own thinking.
